2010 Hamlin Blast part of the Checkpoint Tracker series

Welcome to PHAST. Home of the 2010 HAMLIN BLAST Adventure Race. The 2009 Blast was a great event and this years race is shaping up to be even bigger and better.

The 2010 Blast is a standard discipline 8 hour event designed for the beginner to intermediate adventure racer. The race will consist of mountain biking, canoeing, orienteering/trekking and possibly some type of “special” challenge.

If you are new to Adventure Racing, make sure at least one person on your team is familiar with using a compass and topo map.

The race will consist of a series of “mandatory” and “optional” CP’s (control points). All teams will be required to reach the mandatory CP’s to be counted as a ranked finishing team. The optional CP’s are for the more advanced teams or teams that are trying to place higher in the overall ranking. For more details see the Rules page.

The course is designed so that most, but not all of the teams will be able to complete the “mandatory” portion of the race within the 8 hour time limit.

The more advanced teams will have plenty of “optional” CP’s that will increase the difficulty. A team will have to be fast and have good navigational skills to reach all of the CP’s within the 8 hour limit.

The 2010 Hamlin Blast is part of the Checkpoint Tracker series. Teams can accumulate points from different races and qualify for the Checkpoint Tracker National Championships on Oct.29th and compete for part of the $10,000 cash purse. For more information check out this link.
